While we may not exactly have winter here in good old Singapore, we can still enjoy all the new trends that usher in the new season for the rest of the world. So, from downsizing our totes to embracing a new colour palette – we show you the six most important trends you need to know for the season ahead.
RED
While last season was all about greens and gold’s, this season its time to get romantic, not to mention ravishing, in red. Seen on the catwalks of everyone from Zac Posen, Prada to Dolce&Gabbana, this seasons red is vibrant, bold and brilliant and can trickle down from your dresses to your shoes.
BELTS
‘I like big belts and I can not lie’ should be this seasons new theme song as wide, almost waist-cinchers took over the catwalks of the likes of Marc by Marc Jacobs and Balmain. While there’s no set colour for your perfect finale accessory, patterns and textures look set to take the crown of being the most popular.
Mini Totes
Girls, get ready to downsize. Your tote that is, as this season, when it comes to bags, it’s all about less is more. From the tiny monogrammed beauties at Louis Vuitton, the delicate sling bags at Alexander Wang to the embellished tiny fancies at Valentino – this season proves that good things really do come in small packages.
60s
Yes, that’s right the mod trend is back – but not as you know it thanks to new incarnations on the catwalks ranging from Saint Laurent and House of Holland. Think metallic tweed minis, wide brim hats, cute patent Mary Jane’s and lots and lots of mustard tones.
Fringing
Yes, the Aztec trend so popular last season has moved on, and into the more difficult to translate fringing trend. But fear not girls, for this season fringing can be warn in a multitude of ways. Take a leaf out of Michael Kors’ book and wear a fabulous fringed skirt, look to Proenza Schouler and his update on the classic bag or do like Stella McCartney does with a crepe fringed dress.
Patterns and Prints
And the award for longest standing catwalk trend goes to…patterns and prints. Yes, that’s right they’re back. Clashing, combining, bold or just plain beautiful they were seen at all the shows ranging from Balenciaga, Acne to Opening Ceremony.
