Shakin’ up the art scene
Art In Motion is in its sophomore edition this year and it promises to be a treat and a half for art lovers and enthusiasts with an array of openings, exhibitions and curated talks, all in our little isle. Presented by Art Galleries Association Singapore as part of Singapore Art Week, Art In Motion invites you to experience the depth and diversity of Singapore’s visual arts scene through 18 leading galleries and their thought-provoking exhibitions and panel discussions.

The Fringe is back
Nope, not bangs, but if you wants a fringe to frame your face, we would tell you to go out there and rock it. We’re talking about the return of The Necessary Stage’s M1 Fringe Festival. The theme this time is ‘Art and Loss’. The programme, which has been curated by festival director Sean Tobin after “a lot of reading scripts and proposals, and viewing DVDs and finding out more information about the artists and their works”, comprises a range of theatrical and visual art works, everyone of which examines and responds to the theme in its own way.

If you’re up for a spot of shopping this weekend, the quarterly Kranji Countryside Farmers’ Market is happening! Held in one of Singapore’s last farming patches, expect farm fresh local produce, fruits, fish, herbs and eggs, as well as local artisan-made jams and sauces.

20 + 2
Matthias Arndt presents 20+2 YEARS, an exhibition that celebrates the 20th anniversary of ARNDT Berlin and the second anniversary of the gallery in Singapore. The exhibition is presentation of 50 artworks by 39 artists from Central and Southeast-Asia, the United States, Germany, Europe, Russia and Australia marks the commitment of the gallery and its founder Matthias Arndt to the new location Singapore.

Spice up your life
Listen up chili-heads, homegrown brand Mofo Chili is hosting a 6-course Omakaze pop-up dinner and you’re invited to feel the heat for one night only. This delectable dinner includes dishes made with the spicy chilli paste such as braised pork belly infused with basil leaves, cakalang (Manadonese shredded and smoked skipjack tuna), and gohu (a five-flavoured cucumber soup).
