Let’s face it: We can’t live without Instagram. Seriously, we can’t go a few hours without double tapping! And because pictures of food and cafes seem to garner the most likes, we went on a hunt for some serious visual inspiration. We must say, the fun lies in the process of composing the picture, like standing on a chair (#truestory) for that million dollar shot. So with that, we’ve culled a list of cool dining spots for to satiate your hunger for that perfect IG feed. We’ve also added in a few tips here and there so you can up your IG game – you can thank us later.
Situated in the heart of Tanjong Katong, this brunch destination serves as one of our top instagrammable cafes for its immaculate setting. Scandinavian interiors are all the rage right now, and Laneway Market has added that element to their space. The formidable ability to mix and match stylish Scandinavian influences with a bout of lavish greenery makes the cafe photogenic from literally every angle! Interior decor aside, when taking food photos at Laneway Market, make full use of the café’s various knick knacks, generously adding them into every shot.

We’ve talked about ROUSE for quite a bit here on Sassy and it’s for good reason! Not only is their coffee awesome, we’re major fangirls of the #GirlBoss of this cafe. With just a quick glance at the space, you’ll spot a myriad of textures. For starters, their concrete walls, especially the peeling sections, make a great backdrop, with your plated food filling up your photo’s foreground. You know what else we love? ROUSE’s brick flooring. Cup a latte between your hands and ask a friend to help with a top-down shot. The red flooring will pop, and it’s even better if you manage to squeeze your #ootd outfit into the frame too!

Open Farm Community
Open Farm Community aims to connect both the community and nature, with diners being surrounded by an edible garden. Not utilizing such a lush setting would be such a waste, so before heading in, capture a shot of the restaurant’s outdoor setting featuring the beautiful greenery behind. When your food arrives (order the baby roasted chicken by the way, we heard it’s good!), top-down shots should do the trick since their tables are nicely textured. If you happen to be seated outside, remember to take advantage of all that natural light!

Luxe carries a vibe similar to that of Australian cafés, and the space is minimalistic in nature with a subtle hint of quirky. And their white tables can mean only one thing – top-down shots are an absolute must! Don’t be afraid to go as far as standing on chairs to capture your desired shot, sometimes even filling the frame with your the whole tables’ contents. If you find that unnecessary, and would rather just snap a quick pic of your own meal, maybe scoot a little closer to the table and add your lap and chair into the frame. It’s a tiny trick to ensure your photo doesn’t look like every typical white-tabled shot.

Plain Vanilla Bakery
We believe desserts to be ten times more photogenic than any main course. They have an unexplainable power, causing instant salivation. At Plain Vanilla, their cupcakes are regular Instagrammers’ weapon of choice, packaged in a takeaway box paired with matching wooden cutlery. If you can, add magazines and dried flowers (the cafe has an abundance of them) to help elevate the photo’s aesthetic. But because we have a soft spot for all other desserts too, we think snapping a shot of the entire stash at the counter makes for an appetizing picture! Or, if you’re a vintage lover, stand opposite the street to capture Plain Vanilla’s entrance filled with old school bikes.

Boufé Boutique Café
Boufé Boutique Café is doused in so much white, it’s literally a dream. Everything is modern and chic, so a picture of the interior is a must. Capture their neatly hung up menus located near the entrance, framing some of the surrounding area into your shot. Remember to overexpose it a little while editing, because the brighter it is, the better the end results. It’s most ideal to station yourself nearest to the window, using the stream of natural light to conjure a perfect shot. Boufé’s eggs florentine and french toasts are beautifully plated, so add them to your order for a lovelier shot!

A quaint joint along Bali Lane, & Why possesses one of the more unique café aesthetics in Singapore. It’s old school vibes is almost reminiscent of The Great Gatsby with walls made of grey bricks and furniture featuring an exquisite dark wood finishing. Pictures from the 1920s bombard the walls, creating an interesting backdrop if you wish to take a shot of yourself. Dark tables often dampen an Instagrammer’s hopes of a gorgeous shot, but at & Why you needn’t worry. Instead, place your plated dish on the table while making use of their textured brick walls for an interesting background.

Paddy Hills feels like a hybrid between a Scandinavian home and an American diner; and we’re highly impressed with the rich interior. Somehow, we feel the outdoor seats may produce better Instagram shots. Why? Because natural light and marvelous tiled flooring! Order their pancakes – the dish looks glorious, especially piled with an assortment of brightly coloured fruits. It’s best to stand up while framing your photo, because it should consist of your table, the pancakes, a couple of chairs as well as an ample amount of their blue flooring. Sounds like a hard task? Trust us, it’ll be worth it!

Walking into Blisshouse feels like you’re entering a fairytale, the space mimicking an enchanted garden, what with their astroturf and entirely white sets of furniture. A magical looking carriage sits right in the middle of it all, undoubtedly the most instagrammable spot within the cafe. Sit yourself in the carriage for a dreamlike photo, or pose with their whimsical ceiling-to-floor floral walls with your best gal.

One Man Coffee
We have a thing for industrial inspired interior, and that’s the top reason we can’t have One Man Coffee absent from our list. Apart from the chic setting, we’re especially in love with their tiled counter with logo adorably placed in the centre. If you’re lucky enough to grab a spot in front of it, snap a photo of your food with their counter acting as a backdrop. Angle it so your plated dishes look as if they’re next to the logo, and don’t forget to frame it high enough so some of the industrialised interior fits in as well.
