It’s no secret that the Koreans know skincare probably better than the rest of the world right now. From a 12-step skincare regimen to snail secretions, we’ve all succumbed to the Korean-everything when it comes to skincare. However, we’re still a little bit apprehensive in the realm of makeup.
The facts are these – Korean women tend to be really, really fair and when you’re a brown girl who’s spent half her life looking for foundation on drugstore shelves (and still can’t find it), you tend to get a wee bit jaded when it comes to Korean or Japanese make-up. While they may be adorably packaged and raved about, it’s hard to want to envelope a blush with wide open arms when the colour doesn’t even show on your palms.
Enter Clio’s Gelpresso Waterproof Shadow. Similar to NARS Soft Touch Shadow Pencil, Korean brand Clio has made putting on eyeshadow much, much easier with a twist and swipe application that’s incredibly fuss-free. The Waterproof Shadow comes in a soft and moist gel texture that eventually dries on the surface of your skin, and doesn’t budge all day. The colour is buildable, so if you want something more intense, all you have to do is add more product on your skin.
What did I love the most? How incredibly pigmented the product looks on my dark skin. A smokey eye has never been this easy.
The Clio Gelpresso Waterproof Shadow ($19.90 each) comes in five shades and is available at selected Watsons stores.
