When you dine strictly at Halal establishments in Singapore, you’d realise how limited your choices can be. Sure, you will always have your Indian Muslim mee goreng to turn to at the hawker centre, but when it comes to brunch options, you’re usually left whipping up your own pancakes with turkey bacon you got from Mustafa Centre.
Luckily for you brunch enthusiasts, Flavour Flings has brought a little edge to the Hougang enclave and their brunch menu is definitely worth travelling to the heartlands for. Owned and operated by a Muslim couple, the cafe, which is in its very early days of operation, is yet to be certified Halal by MUIS, but all the meats, produce and ingredients have been sourced from Halal suppliers, so you can be rest assured where your food is coming from.
If you’re looking for a treat, any of the items from their ‘soft yolk’ menu would rub you the right way. Pick from Eggs Benedict – poached eggs served with turkey ham on brioche toast with a indulgent heaping of Hollandaise sauce, Eggs Royale, which is exactly the same as their eggs ben but with smoked salmon instead of turkey ham and Eggs Florentine, which is served with mushrooms instead of turkey ham or salmon. All their egg dishes come with salad, baked potatoes and chicken sausages and are affordably priced between $15 to $16.
