Sometimes, a good 24 hours away from home is all the break you need: we spend a night at Park Hotel Alexandra and feel recharged overnight
There’s really no place like home. I mean, seriously, what’s there not to love about Singapore? Sure, I love nothing more than jet setting off to a foreign land on the other side of the globe for an epic holiday but sometimes I need my R ‘n’ R like, tomorrow, and I need to clear my head for a quick day or two. What’s the solution to that then? I look for an escape somewhere that’s closer to home.
Let it be known that I thrive on short staycays. It keeps me sane. Because there’s really nothing better then diving into fresh and crisp white sheets, a fully-stocked mini-bar, taking a dip in the pool or just soaking in the bathtub till my fingers get all wrinkly.
One afternoon I was daydreaming about how wonderful it’ll be if I just had one night away from home and work to unwind and take a breather. I mean seriously, coming up with fresh new content for you girls daily is a full time job (and I love it!) but a girl’s got to have a breather right? Thanks to the lovely people at Park Hotel Alexandra (they seemed to have magically read my mind), I found myself packing my bags for a night at the swanky hotel.
It’s hard to miss Park Hotel Alexandra when you’re in the Queenstown area of paying a visit to IKEA. The modern facade is clad in curved glass and offers a huge variety of shopping and dining options. It’s literally a stone’s throw away from the heart of Orchard and VivoCity and is easily accessible by MRT, buses and there’s even a complimentary shuttle bus service to VivoCity!
Upon arrival, I was ushered to the Crystal Club Lounge and I must admit, I felt like true VIP. I was given a private check-in which was quick and seamless, with impeccable service and within minutes, I found myself at the dining area of the lounge noshing on a free-flow of refreshments that I later found out is a privilege for all Crystal Club Room guests. There’s complimentary breakfast at the lounge and also cocktails in the evening so there’s no reason to step out of this sanctuary!
Park Hotel Alexandra opened recently, with its official opening in November and everything in the hotel looks perfect to the tee. Right from the moment you step in, you’ll feel that the hotel exudes an indulgent and stylish vibe from the high ceilings to the classy décor.
After the delicious refreshments, I headed over to the Crystal Club Room to chill out for the next few hours before drinks at Aqua Luna and dinner at The Carvery. The room is cosy and perfect for me to zone out on the plush Queen bed, watching movies non-stop complete with a stunning view to boot.
Before I knew it, it was time to get dressed for complimentary cocktails at Aqua Luna. This is definitely my favourite part of the hotel.
Aqua Luna is located by the picturesque infinity pool with a stylish alfresco pool bar. Perched on the 7th floor, the swim-up concept allows guests to unwind over a glass of their signature delicious cocktail handcrafted by their in-house mixologists. It was such a pity that I missed out on splashing around the pool because I forgot my maillot! Hey, go easy on me girls – I was rushing to pack my bags out of sheer excitement!
Dinner was just a few steps away from Aqua Luna at The Carvery and I was already given a heads up earlier to save my appetite for this stellar specialty restaurant that serves up mouth-watering premium roasts. The assortment of to-grade premium roasts are all cooked to perfection by the Chef. I was recommended to eat the roasts with the huge variety of condiments like the sea salt, red wine jus and anchovy butter (which is great with bread too!). The flavour of the beef is rich, robust and peppered with just the right amount of fat and juices. If you’re a gal that loves your meat then I highly recommend coming by The Carvery with a hearty appetite in tow! There are other options available too like traditional wood-fired pizzas, freshly-baked breads and salad greens and other delectable side dishes.
As soon as dinner was over, I gleefully skipped back to the room with a satisfied tummy and big grin on my face. After taking a hot rain shower, I was out like a light in a matter of minutes. I had the best sleep ever that night!
So what’s my verdict you ask? I absolutely loved my stay at the Park Hotel Alexandra! Although I didn’t really manage to check out all the other dining and shopping in the building, there was enough things to do and eat over 24 hours. And with amazing service staff to assist you in every way possible, you’ll come out feeling like the Queen that you are.
