This time each year, Singapore Repertory Theatre (SRT) goes into full swing with a beloved tradition: Shakespeare in the Park. There’s nothing quite like hearing Shakespeare’s immortal lines, with the natural splendour of Fort Canning Park in the background to a magnificently curated set. Shakespeare in the Park has become a highly anticipated event in Singapore’s cultural calendar and this year, we’re expecting the crowds to multiple – after all, everyone loves a tragic love story, no?
Girls, from 27 April to 22 May, every Wednesday to Sunday, catch Romeo and Juliet (the world’s favourite pair of star-crossed lovers) at Fort Canning Park. This year’s instalment of the Shakespeare in the Park is said to feature the biggest and grandest set out of all the nine previous productions. If you’ve been to the shows from the years before, you’d know that the sets built for SIP is anything but ordinary; so we’re excited to see the magic that’ll unfold before our eyes for Romeo and Juliet!
