It must be difficult living in the shadow of an older and successful sibling, not to mention when that older sister happens to be Beyoncé. Yes that’s right, despite having carved out an awesome career and superstar status for herself, poor Solange Knowles is still often pushed to the sidelines, with the title “Beyoncé’s younger sister” referenced so much that you’d be forgiven for thinking it was part of her name (it’s not).
So when rumours began swirling over the weekend about her impending nuptials in New Orleans to long-time beau Alan Ferguson, most of the press were more focused on getting snaps of Queen Bey and seeing if Jay-Z was going to show up after that elevator incident… As far as we’re concerned however, there’s only one Knowles worth talking about right now, the bride herself!
Not simply satisfied with bringing the fierce in her wedding gown, Solange rocked two amazing wedding outfits over the weekend and it’s safe to say our hearts skipped a sartorial beat when we saw the first photos! Choosing to arrive to the ceremony by bicycle, the bride wore a stunning cream-white Stéphane Rolland jumpsuit, complete with cape-sleeves and backless detailing. Unconventional, figure-flattering, bold and beautiful – we didn’t think it could get any better than this look…
Then, the first official photos were released and they are simply stunning! Changing into a sleek and chic Humberto Leon for Kenzo gown for the reception, Solange is photographed in a beautiful all-female family portrait, inspired by Italian artist Vanessa Beecroft and shot by Rog Walker. The gown continues with the caped detailing of her earlier jumpsuit and is strikingly elegant, paired simply with two fabulous gold cuffs.
With social media, style and entertainment sites blowing up with these fierce photos, it’s safe to say, there was only one obvious star over the weekend – bow down mere mortals, there’s a new style Queen in town! (Words of advice to Kim K – that is how you break the internet.) Congratulations to the happy couple!
