As Shakespeare once wrote, “If music be the food of love, play on”, we’d happily kick back with our favorite tunes all evening long and lucky for us, we can as Sing Jazz is right around the corner! Hot on the heels of last year’s successful inaugural edition, the Singapore Jazz Festival is back with a stellar musical lineup! Celebrating jazz and jazz-inspired music across the board, you don’t need to be a serious jazz enthusiast to enjoy this fantastic four-day fest.
Featuring more than 250 local and international artists on multiple stages, this musical extravaganza will feature genres ranging from mainstream jazz and soul to acid jazz, pop and R&B, so there truly is something for everyone. With an eclectic mix of chart-toppers, Grammy winners, up-and-comers and regional icons, Sing Jazz 2015 is one festival you won’t want to miss.
But onto more pressing matters – the line up! Trust us when we say the trick to Sing Jazz will be figuring out how you can catch as many amazing acts as possible. The legendary Chaka Khan, multiple Grammy Award winning Bobby McFerrin and UK pop princess Jessie J are headlining and bound to enthrall and entertain. British acid-jazz group Brand New Heavies will be pumping out their funky and soulful sound, Malaysia’s Yuna folksy melodies are reminiscent of Norah Jones and Singapore local Jeremy Monteiro will be captivating the crowds with his incredible jazz piano performance. And that’s barely scraping the barrel of the plethora of talent that will be gracing our shores this weekend.
Not only is this festival helping to boost Singapore on the international music scene, but it also has an important social mission, to help cultivate the jazz scene in the Lion City, by training and nurturing up-and-coming local musicians. Every ticket sale will make a contribution to the Foundation for the Arts & Social Enterprise so you can rest assured that you’re helping our awesome community as you sit back under the stars to enjoy the tunes with a cool drink in your hand.
