We gathered a group of #GirlBosses in the fashion industry for a lunchtime pow-wow at Lewin Terrace!
If you don’t know by now, us Sassy Girls, we’re big on girl power and are always supporting the next girl, especially when she’s doing something inspiring and kick*ss. So the #GirlBoss lunch was created earlier this year to celebrate and acknowledge women in various industries. The idea was for them to mingle, network and have a fun and casual lunchtime session. Last Thursday, we had our third (and final one for the year) #GirlBoss lunch where we gathered talented women from the fashion industry in Singapore at the beautiful and airy Lewin Terrace that’s nestled in an elegant and classic pre-war colonial bungalow in the lush Fort Canning Gardens.
As our guests started strolling in (everyone was in love with the ambience of Lewin Terrace!), we stole a minute and stepped back to reflect on how proud we are to be a part of the Sassy brand. It was humbling and heartwarming to see all the key players who came to support Sassy Singapore and it’s this very positive energy and faith that spurs us on to do the best we can for all our readers.
#ProudMoments aside, the afternoon kicked off with a round of introductions and the ladies were engaging in conversations and laughter soon filled the room. Some of the awesome women who graced our lunch were Daphne Tan; Marketing Manager of Valiram Group, Jo Soh; Founder of Hansel and Head of Fashion (Asia) for Laura Ashley, Lyn Rosmarin; Founder of Kblu, Trixie Khong; Founder of By Invite Only, Adel Ng; Founder of Taikensonzai, Elaine Ee and Juliana Chang from Imaginex and Lixuan; Founder of Thepigbakesclay.
Once we were all seated, we were treated to our first course of the day and it sure was heavenly! Jo exclaimed “Yum!” at her first bite and all the other ladies nodded in unison!
The ambience and food that afternoon was the perfect setting for our lunch. Our #GirlBosses were enjoying their meal in the picturesque restaurant and they were treated to delicious Japanese-French fusion fare. The courses kept on coming and as each plate was served, we all wiped our plates clean! So can you imagine how yummy our food was?
Right before dessert, Adel from sustainable fashion label, Taikensonzai lead the lunch with a mini-craft session. Everyone was given their own DIY kit of yarns and we all were really engrossed and focused on making our own necklace! Adel went around the table to show us the ropes (literally) and guided all the ladies on perfecting knots for our handmade pieces. I won’t lie, but the first step of getting the knot right is the most complicated! The ladies were fumbling at first but eventually, everyone got the hang of it. Overall, the determined #GirlBosses were happy with their own creations which they got to take home (and wear) too!
As our guests finished their last knots for their necklaces, time was up for us to say our goodbyes to each other. Everyone lingered on for a little bit more to exchange name cards and stay in touch and as the last #GirlBoss left Lewin Terrace, we all heaved a sigh of relief and gave each other high-fives for the successful lunch. We were so happy that all the ladies left happy and inspired.
Now, on to the next #GirlBoss lunch! 2016, watch us, Sassy Singapore is coming at you bigger and better!
Special thanks to the vivacious Shamsydar Ani Photography for the beautiful shots that afternoon and our sponsors for making our lunch an amazing success: Lewin Terrace, Taikensonzai, Thepigbakesclay and OVERJOYED!
