What do you get when you combine Getai tendencies of the previous generation with modern music that’s got lots of soul?
After a successful run with Getai Electronica and Getai Ethnica at everyone’s fave hangout spot Lepark, Getai Group is back with surprises and launches a soul music festival experience to support original content – Getai Soul!
The festival will feature 16 renowned musicians over two days such as Charlie Lim & The Mothership, The Steve Mcqueens, Dru Chen, Vandetta, Tim De Cotta & The Warriors, The Good Life Project, TAJ and more from Singapore and the region such as Najwa Mahiaddin from Malaysia, Barry Likumahuwa from Indonesia and Za Feedo from Japan that are heavily influenced by soul music which are inspired by African-rhythms, jazz, soul and funk.
In typical Getai Group style, they’ll also collaborate with local cultural troupes such as Siong Leng Music Association that specialises in Nanyin Music, Sin Ee Lye Heng Teochew Puppetry Troupe (also the last Teochew puppetry troupe in Singapore!) and a Cantonese Opera Performance directed by Christopher Choo, one of the leading Cantonese Opera Artistes in Singapore, to present a cultural twist to the audiences.
You’ll also see visual art installations, food stalls, DJ sets, a Teochew Puppetry Stage and experimental exhibitions for the crowd to embrace and celebrate the diverse talents available locally and the region! Still don’t know what to expect? Check out the trailer below for yourself.
