If we could scream into a blog post, all you’d be hearing right now is one long screech. We’re super excited for the Gelato World Tour coming to Singapore, a.k.a. heaven on earth for any of you dessert lovers out there. After hitting up gelato obsessives in Rome, Valencia, Melbourne, Dubai, Austin, Berlin and Rimini, this sweet event is making a pit stop in the little red dot to bring you the best of artisan gelati on 20-22 March.
In case you don’t know what gelato is, allow us to open the floodgates of addiction for you. Gelato’s a divine confection that takes ice cream to the next level, usually using more decadent ingredients such as cream, egg yolks and fresh fruit to name a few to create a thicker and softer consistency. It surprisingly has less fat in it and it’s all made in small fresh batches – meaning you don’t get that heavily processed taste. (If they’ve got black cherry or tiramisu gelati on the cards, you can bet we’ll be there in a heartbeat)
Hosted over in Marina Bay Sands, the Gelato World Tour will be setting up their very own fantasy village a la Candyland where you’ll be able to check out the best flavours on this side of the Pacific. Crafted by some of the best gelato chefs in the world from Filipina Zarah Zaragoza-Manikan’s Mango Ube Symphony to Singers’ own Marco Alfero’s Chendol Merdeka, you’ll even be able to learn how to make your own under careful supervision. And if that’s all old news for you, Carpigiani Gelato University will even be doing workshops on how to open your own gelato shop. If there hasn’t been a film about a Sassy Singaporean gelato café owner falling in love with her adorable customer, we call dibs on the screenplay.
So if we’ve managed to convince you (and we sure hope we have), all you have to do is shoot over to Marina Bay Sands on 20-22 March to get a taste of some of the best gelati that will ever hit the little red dot. And don’t worry if you can’t make it because of work girls, it runs from 12-9pm all three days so there’s absolutely no excuse. Get ready for brain freeze!
