Has it already been a month of me holding down the fort for Sassy Singapore? As cliché as it sounds – time does fly when you’re having fun! 30 days in, I’ve come to know and love this site like my firstborn and I’m very excited because it’s a big moment for the Sassy team in Singapore. We’re dedicated and passionate to be in the hearts of all the women here and as we continue to be the girl’s guide to everything Singapore, we’re going to have lots of fun with you along the way!
March was all sorts of amazing. I began my adventure here at Sassy and hosted my first ever Girl Boss lunch with inspiring women in the health and wellness scene aimed at connecting inspiring women which turned out to be a great success (watch out for more awesome lunches in the future!). And then I went on a trip to Jakarta with my best girlfriends and stayed at a cool boutique hotel called Kosenda. Everything in the room was picture perfect and designed to #pinterest perfection! It’s been some time since my girls and I had an all girls weekend together and the three day escapade to have our much awaited heart to heart was simply overdue. On top of catching up on some major girl time, the other item on the agenda was to shop for materials for my wedding dress and for my bridesmaids’ dresses (squeals)!
Brides-to-be, if you’re sourcing for fabrics for the dress, Tanah Abang in Jakarta is the best spot ever. Here you’ll be spoilt for choice with the plethora of colours, fabrics and textures – we went back home with 65 kilograms worth of fabric! Besides shopping, Jakarta has so much great food to offer and for a glutton like me, it’s heaven! We hit nine cafés and restaurants in two days (still don’t know how we managed all that!) and no regrets there with the pounds that we packed on. Hold tight for a 48 hour guide to Jakarta this month!
Exciting times aside, the last few days of March were very solemn and sombre as the founding father of our metropolis, Lee Kuan Yew passed on. He fought for Merdeka for Singapore; the right to fight and fend for ourselves and groomed us from a sleepy little fishing village to a bustling city full of vigour and life. Mr. Lee served us with every ounce of faith and without his tenacity and determination, we would not be able to call this little red dot a safe and prosperous home. Let us always be reminded to give thanks and gratitude for all the blessings we have in this country and look ahead to the future with more hope than ever.
Moving forward, April will be full of even more great content on Sassy Singapore. Beautiful That Girls and Superstylers, funny, irreverent and inspiring stories and latest news and experiences that you’ll surely want to immerse yourself in. Not to forget the upcoming Easter festivities (have you decided where to go for your Easter brunch yet?). So let’s welcome April with open arms Sassy Girls – it’s gonna be one heck of a ride!
