Whoever said that hungry tummies, fancy hotel restaurants and endless glasses of champagne just don’t mix clearly hasn’t heard about Edge. Nestled away on the third floor of the Pan Pacific Hotel at Marina Square, this completely renovated and revamped restaurant launched their new Sunday Champagne brunch experience earlier this year and boy… is it a feast of gastronomic proportions! We popped along recently to put it to the ultimate Sassy test!
Held from 12 noon to 4pm every Sunday, Edge is at the top of the pile for decadent weekend brunches, with more than seven live cooking stations available for diners to pull up a plate and order something fresh. Resident chefs prepare yummy bites according to preference, but if you prefer something already prepped, there’s a smorgasbord of other delish options to choose from… whatever your stomach desires you’re bound to find it here! Their extensive menu features goodies such as Jet Fresh Boston lobster, 3 types of French and Canadian Oysters, Wagu Beef (grilled upon request), Suckling Pig, Prime Rib, Duck Confit Ravioli (a Sassy fave), a two-metre cheeseboard featuring 30 varieties of artisanal cheese, fresh handmade pastas, as well as Satays, Tandooris, Laksas, Dim Sum and even Chicken Rice!
What we especially loved about the space at Edge is just how big it is! Whether you want a big table for a long lunch with a few friends, or prefer a smaller gathering, the restaurant has so many nooks and crannies and is so filled with happy chatter that it’s perfect for everybody. And our biggest learning of the day? Pace yourself. This is no slap and dash meal … this is a loooooong lunch, where it’s almost guaranteed you’ll need a nap by the end of it. Start slowly and only take a sample from each food offering to avoid a food coma.
While we happily sipped bottomless glasses of champagne (or beer, or wine, or cocktail — pick your poison), those with kiddos can rejoice as they are free to romp around the designated kids playroom. Tucked away in the far corner of the resto, the room has padded floors for crawlers, a few well-loved toys and a TV with DVD player (yes, they were playing Frozen on the day we were there!).
Sassy Tips: We’d definitely recommend getting there right on 12 noon to get the most bang for your buck. This one doesn’t come cheap, so you’ll want to get stuck into it as soon as possible. If you book ahead of time, do request one of the tables closest to the kids corner –it has a pretty swish view back towards the Singapore Flyer.
