We were super excited when we heard that there’s an interesting new event in town that involves scents and walking. Now, what on earth is a scent walk? Well, it’s a journey around a variety of locations in which the main focus is to discover what smells we can identify, what emotions they evoke and also what scents shape the city around us. The aim is to rest our eyes and let our nose lead the way!
AllSense launches its first-ever scent walk in Asia and the walk will be based around eight sensory Singaporean locations and will be led by Ms Kate Mclean, an academic researcher and artist who specialises in creating city scent maps. Her walks and maps of Paris, New York and Amsterdam have become world famous and this will be her first venture to Asia. Not only will this be a fabulous way to reconnect with the city on a totally new level but all participants will be aiding towards the creation of Singapore’s very own scent map, just in time for Singapore’s 50th birthday!
This sensational walk will commence from June 3 to June 10 and lasts an hour with the various locations making up some of Singapore’s most famous areas and have been hand-picked due to their sensory qualities like Little India, China Town and East Coast Park. The final scent map will displayed at ION Orchard and will become a little piece of Singaporean history which I can’t wait to be a part of!
The scent walk is open to everyone and all you need to do is complete the online registration. Places are very limited and as since this is an utterly one-off experience be sure to sign up pronto before anyone else gets a sniff!
