Here are 5 themed cafés in Singapore that you must visit!
A few days ago, Hello Kitty fans in Singers were rejoicing when it was announced that the first-ever Hello Kitty café will open here! And with the rise of themed café openings lately, we knew we had to put them together in a list like this, just in case you decide to go on a character themed café-hopping adventure. Be warned, what you’re about to witness ahead might have you dying from cuteness overload. For those of you who aren’t fans of cute characters (seriously, who isn’t though?), there are superhero themed cafés too.
It’s about fre*king time! I mean seriously, us Singaporeans love this no-mouth feline way more than life it seems (remember the overnight lines for the Hello Kitty toy from McDonald’s?). The first-ever café in Singapore is called Hello Kitty Orchid Garden and the interior décor and menu that’s inspired by our national flower will be open 24 hours. We heard that there’ll be local influences worked into the menu and there are also plans for Halal certification for the café, making it accessible to our Muslim friends! You can also purchase custom Hello Kitty-inspired tea blends, plush toys, tea cups and much more. The café will officially open on Thursday, 12 May, 2016.

“Gotta catch ’em all… Pokémon!”. How can we ever get enough of Pikachu and its posse? A Pokémon café is literally popping out and will be taking over EWF (Everything With Fries) at Bugis Junction, from 27 May to 31 July, 2016. Expect Pokémon-themed dishes that we foresee will look too cute to be devoured! We also heard that a giant Pikachu might make an appearance during the period so if you’re a big hugger, make sure you’re popping by the café ever so often!
Pokemon Café @ EWF, Bugis Junction, 200 Victoria Street, #04-05, Singapore 188021, (+65) 6338 0135
We love that that are many firsts in Singapore and Pompompurin Café is the first Sanrio character café in Southeast Asia. The adorable golden retriever dog with its iconic brown beret is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year and is celebrating with a bang. The 1,900 sq ft café will feature all things Pompompourin, from furnishings to cutlery and even food and drinks. Taking on a city with a garden theme, the 78-seater café is decorated with flora and fauna and also features Pompompurin’s friends: Mint the Frog, Bagel the Squirrel, Coconut the Monkey and Macaroon the Golden Retriever. Don’t forget to bring your cameras along girls, this café is super kawaii!

Who would have ever thought that our favourite superheroes would get together to open up a café? DC Comics Super Heroes Café is a good spot for photo opportunities and being in a prime location like the Marina Bay Sands just means that it’s a good stopover after visiting the museum or Gardens by the Bay. Pop by for a menu of starters from sandwiches to pastas and drinks aptly named Superman’s Soup, Batman Burger, Catwoman’s Caramel Latte and many more. If you’re having one of those days where you feel like you need a little bit of saving, this is one place you should go.
DC Comics Super Heroes Café, 2 Bayfront Avenue, L1-03/04/05 Bay Level, The Shoppes at Marina Bay Sands, Singapore 018972, (+65) 6688 7610
DC Comics isn’t the only superhero-themed café in town! Hungry Heroes features superheroes from Marvel Comics and serves up a mean serving of hearty foods and platters. The gigantic burgers, and specialty meats like the Bacon Karate Chop and Nuclear Fission Angues Beef Cheeks are said to be the best around. If you’re not up for a meal and would just like to look see look see, there are superhero memorabilia, comics, figurines and movie posters too!
