If you’re big on eclectic and Pinterest-worthy interior decor, then you’re in for a treat! This March, the local furniture and furnishings experts at DREAM collaborate with the legendary Italian contemporary furniture trendsetter, Cappellini. Five homegrown influential artists will be creating distinctive masterpieces that encapsulates the label’s avant-garde ethos and you can anticipate nothing less than a striking visual feast at the Cappellini Project Exhibition.
Putting their own spin on Cappellini’s furniture archives, the five local mavens consist Melvin Ong, Ian Woo, Darren Soh, Vincent Leow and the team at PHUNK. Melvin was inspired by the Cappellini Ribbon Chair that depicts the laces of a ballet shoe and will craft a sculpture inspired from the form and movement of ballet dancers and Ian will predominantly use lines as the structural fulcrum of his drawing based on the Cappellini Sekitei Chair. Widely known for his documentation of public housing flats in Singapore, photographer Darren will be featuring a collage of images in his rendition while Vincent will be creating a piece titled “Shoe” which seeks to be a complement to Cappellini’s Fish Chair. As for the talented team at PHUNK, expect an work of art that will incorporate the colour of fabric upholstery originally designed by Alessandro Mendini.
So if you’re just as curious as us about the final outcomes of the reinterpretation of these leading designers on Cappellini’s work then pencil in the dates for this groundbreaking exhibition in your calendar! Oh, and did we mention that there’ll be a special purchase promotion on Cappellini pieces too?
