Otherworldly Facials at TaraBliss Spa

We just might have a new favourite spot for facials in Singapore, mama

“Just to warn you”, the attendant told me when I went in for a facial at TaraBliss Spa, “all but two of the people who’ve tried out this new treatment have fallen asleep. I really hope we don’t disappoint!”

Sure enough she lived up to her word: by the end of my 90-minute treatment I might as well have been snoozing in a cloud. Their ethereal treatment rooms and luxe products (including Murad, Talika and Jeanne Piaubert) made me feel light years away from the central location in an anonymous office building on North Bridge Road (well worth the trip, I promise mama!). I very well may have floated out on my way back to the car.

Established more than 10 years ago by Singaporean Mimi Gay, TaraBliss is all about the mind-body connection, taking a holistic approach to skincare and body wellness by incorporating elements of Reiki, Ayurveda and Traditional Chinese Medicine along with cutting-edge aesthetic technologies. Whereas Singapore is filled with spa and facial outlets (almost all of which try to push packages on you and nullify any modicum of rest and relaxation – or at least that’s been my experience!), their facials are very much bespoke and customised, not about selling you something you don’t need.

I tried out the Lightening+ treatment, targeted at skin with age spots, acne scars and redness (guilty as charged). Incorporating Dynamic Pulse Light (DPL) therapy to soften lines and rejuvenate skin, the treatment concludes with a hydration mask to plump and revitalise, and improve circulation. You know how sometimes after a facial your skin feels – if not greasy, just kind of overly moist? – I didn’t experience that at all! My skin felt light and supple, it had a nice glow to it, and I swear those pesky smile lines around my mouth were just slightly lighter than they used to be.

The experience at TaraBliss is truly intimate and pampering. I loved the plush treatment rooms – done up in shades of pink and purple – and the colourful reception area. The spa therapists were welcoming, attentive and kind, and really made me feel comfortable (which is important when someone’s taking what’s essentially a light saber to your face, you know?).

I know that I will absolutely be going back to TaraBliss for more facials. I loved their products, I loved the staff, and I loved the super-convenient city centre location. Best of all, I loved how my skin felt for days afterwards!
