The famous Hokkaido BAKE cheese tart is coming to Singapore!
Literally just four days ago, I was queueing for a box of BAKE cheese tarts at Lumine Est mall in Shinjuku station before catching my express train to Narita Airport. And now, word on the street is that BAKE will be opening its first outlet in Singapore at the food hall of Ion Orchard on Friday, 29 April, 2016! So the story goes: we had two big suitcases and three hand-carries in tow and honestly, there was really no way we could have carried another bag; much less a bag of tarts home (because they are too fragile!). But I knew I had to buy a box back for my mama and judging from the ceaseless queue every day, these tarts had to be delish!
So I joined in the queue (despite the eye rolls from the husband) and waited at least 15 minutes to purchase my box of tarts. I told the staff to pack one tart separately for me because, I was going to nom it down five seconds after. As I took the first bite, my teeth sank into a soft tart base with the smoothest texture of warm cheese mouse. The top of the tart cracked ever so lightly and the freshness of the tart was just utter PERFECTION.
Girls, you can have a taste of cheese paradise too, next week! The BAKE cheese tart hails from a Kinotoya confectionary store in Hokkaido and believes in serving freshly baked tarts that are baked on the spot to ensure that customers can enjoy the straight-out-of-oven freshness. The secret to the molten cheese mouse is that it’s made from blending three different types of cream cheese from Hokkaido. The tart base is baked originally in Japan and then baked together with the cheese mouse for the second time in Singapore, before sale.
The cheese tarts costs $3.50 each and a box of six tarts will be priced at $19.50. Each customer can buy 12 tarts at a time, so if you’re a huge fan of cheese and BAKE, you better bring backup!
