The popularity of dance music took a nose dive in the 90s and early naughties (we caught boyband fever, too!) but it’s made a triumphant return to the charts… meaning dedicated dance music festivals have been popping up around the globe. Enter Singapore’s very own version of that: Zoukout 2015, which takes place on Siloso beach on Friday, 11 December and Saturday, 12 December! We bring you five reasons you shouldn’t miss this awesome annual party…
1. It’s been running for 15 years.
Who would have thought that from humble beginnings, this massive two-day fest would take the shape it has done now? And they’ve had all the greats performing (and returning!) – Nervo, Alesso, Benga, Marin Solveig… which leads us to…
2. The best DJs
Guess who’s back, back again? Nervo, Alesso, Oliver Heldens, Axwell & Ingrosso, Armin Van Buuren, Porter Robinson (he’s definitely a favourite of ours at Sassy HQ!), Kaskade and the legendary Tiesto. Phew! Now that’s one heck of a line-up and we’ve not even mentioned all of them! Check out the full line-up of DJs spinning here.
3. The wacky costumes
A party on the beach definitely means you’ve gotta dress up in something funky… after all, we need to keep populating that #squadgoals hashtag on Insta! Co-ordinate outfits with your BFFs and roll up looking pretty fly for a white guy. Wigs are easy enough, as are glowsticks. It’s time to shine bright like a diamond!
4. Sweating it out
The gym is so 2014, as is crossfit, and yoga and spinning. Sweat it out on the dance floor instead to the thump-thump-thump of the beat. Who said you can’t have fun while burning calories? We love that you can workout at Zoukout…
Sassy tip: Stay hydrated and keep drinking that sweet sweet H2O during the weekend!
5. The atmosphere
There’s nothing better than partying under the night sky. With the backdrop of our beautiful little red dot, the feeling of sand between your toes, and some absolutely smashing tunes, we’re pretty sure you’ll have one of those amazing once-in-a-lifetime experiences!
