Sure we love a good trend here at Sassy, however even we understand the importance of good fashion staples. With only so much money in such a big little metropolis, it’s important to have savvy pieces that’ll take you from the office, to a date, to cocktails and so on – and yes, these pieces do exist. We’ve gathered our must-haves below as well as a couple of cheeky tools to keep you looking fresh and fab, take a look below!
Mama Hills always told me that when you go into the workforce, your female coworkers’ first impression is based on your bag. While I’m not sure if that’s entirely true, a good bag does make or break an outfit and the perfect designer classic is definitely an investment for the future. It’s tempting to go for something cheaper (something a little faux, shall we say), but there’s no substituting the quality of the genuine article. Whether you’re coveting a Birkin or a timeless Chanel 2.55, you can’t go wrong with neutrals for every outfit.
Whoever said lingerie was made for men was a little narrow minded. There’s nothing that makes me happier than a good, sexy bra that keeps my cleavage looking fly (nothing wrong with a little vanity ladies) and if somebody else happens to appreciate it too, then that’s an added bonus. There’s also something so thrilling about wearing a bombshell set underneath a lazy day outfit; a little girl boss secret you can keep to yourself.
After doing a fashion internship with a kaftan company, I have completely and totally embraced the power of the clothing steamer. Quicker than ironing and way more thrilling (okay, maybe that’s a push because it’s still sort of laundry), we love the mini portable ones that eradicate creases in just a matter of minutes. Great for delicate pieces like silk chiffon as well as everything else in your closet, once you steam, you’re on the team.
The Little Glam Dress
And this doesn’t necessarily mean an LBD! Forego the trends and invest in a dress in a colour that looks good on you, so for example I’d naturally reach for something in a deep red. Embellishments are tricky to transition so I’d recommend you stick to more classic shapes, whether you’re into your tailored shifts or flowing wraparounds. Chuck a slouchy cardi on for casual days or throw on your statement heels for a head-turning ensemble.
There’s nothing like a pair of killer heels to give you that added confidence boost, ladies. Sure, you’ll never go wrong with a comfortable pair of flats, but they won’t give you that surge of female empowerment that comes with the click, click, click of heels on a pavement. Go big and bold girls and that doesn’t necessarily mean go high either. Don’t be afraid to rock them out whenever you can – it’d be a travesty for them to collect dust.
