Deepavali is fast approaching and to welcome the festivities, a string of exciting activities has been lined up all over Singapore! There’s never a lack of vibrancy when it comes to celebrating the annual festival of lights so get ready to immerse yourself completely with these five upcoming events. Mark your calendars girls, because it’s going to be a solid month full of parties!
1. Deepavali Light-Up
Known as the festival of lights, Deepavali can’t be without lights, of course! To celebrate the victory of good over evil and instilling the importance of light replacing darkness, the temples and streets of Little India will be covered in waves of dazzling lights. Be it a drive through or slow stroll on foot, you will feel bright and alive just by looking at the magnificent display. The lights will be up until 22 November so catch it while you can!

2. Deepavali Festival Village
Stretching through Campbell Lane and Hastings Road, the Deepavali Festival Village is a cultural bazaar selling anything and everything related to the festivities. Be it ethnic wear or intricate jewellery, you’ll be able to find an abundance of designs in every imaginable colour! Don’t forget to stop by henna booths for a temporary henna tattoo, before refueling with traditional snacks and delicacies. There’s no better way to build the hype for Deepavali than to fully immerse yourself in the delightful atmosphere, as we count down the days till the actual celebration begins!

3. Deepavali Countdown Concert
Every major event is always ushered in with a phenomenal countdown, and Deepavali is no exception. Held at the Indian Association, the countdown concert this year begins at eight in the evening, and will feature both local and foreign celebrities. It’s a whole four hours of dazzling Indian tunes and dances, before a spectacular fireworks display goes off at midnight. It’s definitely a thrilling way of welcoming the festivities!

4. Marwari Mitra Mandal’s Diwali Ball 2015
Awaiting the chance to dress up for a glamorous event this coming Deepavali? Now there’s reason to, with the annual Deepavali get-together happening at Orchid Ballroom at Marina Bay Sands. Held on the 7th of November, the Diwali ball is expected to be a night of entertainment over drinks and dance, where everyone turns up with the sole purpose of letting loose and having fun! Join in the glitzy experience, with tickets going at $80 for members and $135 for guests.

5. Kalaa Utsavam
We promised you a whole month of celebrations, and even towards the end of November there are still exciting Deepavali activities available. Kalaa Utsavem, an annual arts event held during the Deepavali period, is set to run from 20 to 29 November. The 10-day festival includes both local and international Indian artists, covering a wide span of classical and contemporary performance components. Indulge yourself in a line-up consisting of dance, music and theatre, which promises to be a rich cultural experience.
