Looking to wow this holiday season with a fresh look, or searching for a beauty junkie’s perfect present? With heaps of incredible products out this year, it’s difficult narrowing it down to just a couple to avoid breaking the bank – so I’ve done the legwork for you. Whether you’re gunning for smouldering peepers, the lipstick to capture the hearts of nations or the best way to take it all off, there’s something for every beautyholic below.
Urban Decay’s Electric Palette
Okay. Maybe I should stop talking about Urban Decay’s new Electric palette (see what else I had to saw about UD’s new releases here), but these bold colours are perfect for those of you wanting a cheeky accent or a rainbow-tastic look. The pigments are absolutely on point and lasts for a long time to keep your festive #FOTD strong.
Available at Sephora.
Maybelline New York HyperSharp Wing Liner
Anybody who’s ever been on a night out with me knows that a cat eye and a bold lip is my go-to, but it’s difficult finding the perfect liner – I’ve come out looking like the drunk kid who falls asleep first at the party too many times. It’s therefore no surprise that Maybelline New York’s HyperSharp Wing Liner has me in a tizzy. Unlike other liners, you can vary the thickness by twisting it for either razor sharp precision a la Audrey Hepburn or go for full on Winehouse drama. In any case, winging it has never been easier ladies.
Begins at $23.90. Available at Watsons, SaSa, Guardian and selected department stores and supermarkets.
Hair Pro by Watsons
Are you a curling iron queen? Maybe you’re attached at the hip to your straightener. Whatever your poison, Watsons has teamed up with Japanese salon superstars Moltobene to create a brand new range of affordable hair products – all designed to protect your locks. They’ve snuck in a sneaky new ingredient called Nano Repair, which activates with the heat of your shower or irons, and is able to slip deep into your hair follicles for intensive protection. And for you eco-girls out there: it’s free from parabens and UV absorbers and loaded with green tea and organic rice extracts for a more natural kick.
Ranges between $15.90-17.90. Available at Watsons everywhere.
YSL Rouge Pur Couture 52
Made popular by the insanely popular Korean drama My Love From The Star, this gorgeous little coral pink number is practically sold out everywhere. If you can get your hands on it, it’s the perfect transitional lipstick – sweet enough for daytime dawdles, yet bold enough to take you to cocktails with the girls. It’s a little pricey (it is YSL) but it’s definitely a staple I’ll be reaching for days to come – though it’s a little drying so slap a bit of balm on beforehand.
Available at Yves Saint Laurent Beaute and select department stores.
Banila Co. Clean It Zero
Now we’ve been talking a lot about make-up ladies, but you’ve got to make sure you manage to get it all off at the end of the night as well! I recently came across this amazing little oil cleanser in SaSa and it’s a goddess amongst make-up removers: removing even the most unforgiving foundation in just one rinse. With a hygienic little spatula to help you dole it out, it has the added effect of hydrating, softening and brightening your skin. (Please, please, please make-up gods let this never be discontinued.)
Available at Sasa everywhere.
