As a huge bandana fan, our Editor shows us how she rocks her favourite paisley squares.
If you ask me, the scarf is an underrated accessory. It’s versatile, chic, and most importantly, come on the cheap too – especially bandanas. Before the bandana trend became a hit, I was already a big fan of these paisley kerchiefs. I wear them mostly on my hair to prevent my bangs from covering my face when I’m having a bad hair day or tie it around my neck to dress up my plain ol’ white tee.
So when this trend became Paris Fashion Week Approved, it just added more sartorial points to my daily ensembles. This square little piece of genius sure knows how to make a bold statement and can be worn anywhere from your head to your neck to your bag – and more! There’s really no wrong way to wear it apart from all the endless right ways! In honour of my favourite trend of 2015, I decided to share with you Sassy Girls the four ways I’d typically tie my bandana. If you have your own way of dressing up this accessory, feel free to share them with me too!
The Neck Job: Fold your bandana into a triangle and roll it all the way from top to tip. Tie it around your neck and style the ends of the knot to the side.
Extra Points: Wear this style with a V-neck blouse.
How To: Fold your bandana diagonally, and tie it loosely around your neck.
Extra Points: This look is the most popular style that’s worn on the streets (or by bandits) so keep it simple with a plain t-shirt.
How To: Tie the bandana under your hair and pull the knot to the side.
Extra Points: Put your hair up in a nice ponytail or chignon to channel Rosie the Riveter!
The Bag Lady
How To: Wrap a bandana around the handle of your favourite bag and voila!
Extra Points: If you mix up two bandanas in different colours.
P.S: If you’d like to get yourself one of these bad boys, 77th Street stocks them in different colours for under $5 each!
